How many times have you heard the expression “fingers crossed”, or a friend has said to you, ahead of an important day, “I will keep my fingers crossed for you!”. It is a phrase that we use almost on daily basses but what does it really mean and where does its origins lye. When someone says they will cross their fingers crossed, what they really mean is that they will hope strongly, something good and beneficial to us will happen. The simple act is said to predate Christianity. The earliest use of the gesture involves two people interlinking their index fingers in order to form a cross. The pagans believed in ‘’sacred geometry’’ which is based on geometric patterns found in nature believed to have a sacred significance. They also believed that well-meaning and kind spirits lived in the intersections of crosses. Therefore, once two people made across, they could make a wish and the spirit would favor them. Having a little extra good vibe on our side clearly appeals to most people, as the gesture has slightly changed, however very firmly become a part of the fabric of everyday life. We have collaborated with a very talented local artist Yiannis Gounaridis, to create this year’s Charm. He is a third-generation jewel craftsman carrying a long family tradition that is updated with a contemporary, modern and minimal style. He specializes in jewellery creation using mainly metal and variations of epoxy resin. In his studio Yiannis combines is unique designs and exceptional craftsmanship with unrefined materials to deliver stylish products. Inspired by the never ending hope for better times to come, and good luck blessing our path we have chosen the “cross fingers” symbol as a main focus in our new year charms.

Jewels are expression of feelings, moments and our own perception of life! Don’t let anyone over make you doubt that!
